What’s considered to be the first-ever, click-through banner ad was part of a 1993 AT&T campaign, which is eerily prescient. One #fail: They predicted video calling, but not MOBILE video calling, and showed “FaceTime” taking place in a phone booth. 🤣 The banner ad ran on HotWired.com in October, 1994, and achieved an initial click-through rate of 44%!
