We are excited to announce our five SoCal Awards finalists, in categories that showcase a wide range of disciplines, for a family-oriented master plan in Ventura and a luxury Pasadena community. These two projects represent the creativity and commitment of multiple Weston/Mason team members in concert with two very collaborative clients. They were also spearheaded by Tom Weston, our late co-founder and industry legend, which makes these nominations even more special — although definitely bittersweet.

Techies have long searched for the true meaning of the iconic bite in Apple’s ubiquitous mark. According to The Drum’s interview with designer Rob Janoff, the nibble is actually a “purely functional modification.” Says Janoff: “It wasn’t Adam and Eve… The bite was necessary to ensure the fruit was easily identifiable.”

What’s considered to be the first-ever, click-through banner ad was part of a 1993 AT&T campaign, which is eerily prescient. One #fail: They predicted video calling, but not MOBILE video calling, and showed “FaceTime” taking place in a phone booth. 🤣 The banner ad ran on HotWired.com in October, 1994, and achieved an initial click-through rate of 44%!
